GMTO: Henry Johnson Boot in Maryam Horsebutt

GMTO: Henry Johnson Boot in Maryam Horsebutt

GMTO will run from July 9 through 23. We're capping this run at 8 pairs.

For our latest GMTO, we wanted to create a boot with a specific purpose: a pair that will look even better after six months of wear than it does on day one.

The Henry Johnson Boot combines our French Army-inspired pattern with our 1942 Last to strike a balance between comfort, durability, and clean proportions.

Maryam Natural Horsebutt TPR Matte rewards use. This leather spans both standard hide and the dense internal shell membrane of the horsebutt, creating a unique, multi-textured surface that rolls smoothly and folds deeply with wear. It is heavily stuffed with natural oils and waxes that shift under tension, creating dynamic color gradients and lighter tones in high-stress areas. Finally, its pure vegetable tanning process and completely naked, transparent finish allow the leather to react organically to sunlight, friction, and moisture without any synthetic barriers. This leather is a patina machine.

To make the most of the horsebutt, we opted for an unlined construction with no toe stiffener. The result is a boot that molds naturally to the foot and develops shape and character without unnecessary structure. Underfoot, a Wickett & Craig vegetable-tanned midsole and Dr. Sole Raw Cord full sole and heel provide a durable foundation, while Hermann Oak vegetable-tanned internals ensure the same level of quality throughout the build.

Some boots are designed to make their strongest impression on day one. This makeup was designed with the months ahead in mind. The best version of this boot will be earned through daily wear, one step at a time.

Scheduled for delivery ahead of this year's Stitchdown Patina Thunderdome, these boots will arrive at exactly the right moment for those planning this year's entry.
