Meet Our New 1942 Last: Sleeker Shape, More Sizes, All‑Day Comfort

Meet Our New 1942 Last

Say hello to the new 1942 Last at Oldspeed MFG. We’ve just added eighty fresh lasts to our workshop, and that means more sizes, finer tuning, and a noticeably better fit across the board. The 1942 Last is built for everyday comfort without sacrificing stance or silhouette: a lower, sleeker profile keeps the lines clean while a wider, longer forefoot gives your toes room to work. Additional arch support lifts and stabilizes your step, and a narrower heel locks you in so the shoe grips like a firm handshake. This new combination—secure at the back, generous up front, supported through the middle—makes a pair of boots you can wear from morning coffee to last call.

New Widths & Lengths Available

Our sizing also just got a major upgrade. Men’s sizes now run from 5 through 15, including half sizes, in widths D, E, and EE. Women’s sizes are available from 5.5 to 8.5 with a narrow heel and C‑width forefoot. If you wear a women’s size above 8.5, choose the men’s equivalent, which is generally one and a half sizes down from your women’s size. If you haven't been measured, get your Brannock measurements at a local shoe store and bring this guide along so you or the associate can measure with confidence. A few minutes on the device saves a lot of guesswork later.

Updates on Sizing

For the 1942 Last, start with your Brannock size. We’re tracking fit feedback closely as orders go out and will update our recommendation if the data points us elsewhere. When that happens, we’ll post again and send an email, so you’re never guessing between sizes.

The Tried and True Service Boot Last

And yes, the Service Boot Last isn’t disappearing. We’ll continue to offer select patterns and makeups on it, and we’re working toward an improved version with a broader size run. If you own a pair built on the Service Boot last and love the way it fits, reach out and we’ll build you another the exact same way.

If you’re ready for a lower profile, more forefoot freedom, and dialed‑in support, the 1942 Last is waiting. Your feet will notice the difference the second you lace up.
